In \;  \;Sahee v. Sahee \;involving another estate in Bihar\, the Privy Counc il noted that Estate tenures could be given without Rajaships titles. This paper \;maps Raj Darbhanga’s imperial liminality and its participatio n in the patterning of the British colonial corridors in the southern foot hills of the Himalayas. To the “old” discourse on European empire-making i n oceanic and borderland zones\, I add the vertical ariel dimension led by “new” American entrepreneurialism of which the presence of Darbhanga esta te\, as \; \;co-host in 1933 of the first ever Mount Everest air e xpedition involving the kingdom of Nepal\, on new American imperial itiner ary is an example.\nDr. Prabhakar Singh \;is Professor at BML Munjal U niversity School of Law\, India. He is currently a member of the Executive Council of the Asian Society of International Law and sits on the interna tional advisory panel of the American Law Institute's program on Foreign R elations Law.
